It has already been 1 week since I came to Chicago. Chicago is known widely as a "WINDY CITY". I believe I never get to understand this term until today (13/3/06). My aunt once told me that the vehement wind is strong enough to drive an individual onto the ground.

Today's violent wind is probably due to the changing of season from winter to spring. My experience of today's strong wind is never like the ones I'd encountered before. It's definitely a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Thanks to the heavy wind, I never manage to stand rooted onto the ground while waiting for my aunt's car at the car park. The pressure of the wind gets so intense that I could almost be blown away. Yes, I'm not kidding! My mum and I almost fell backwards onto the pavements.

We had done some grocery at this supermarket called "Target" while my aunt fetched my cousin from cousin before she came to pick us up. My mum and I waited for nearly 45 minutes and we have to run into the supermarket occasionally to escape the big wind. (Witnessing the sign post swaying to and fro and the door slamming frequently) Okay, I confessed that there is this cute guy working at the store. His job is to gather all the trolleys from the carpark and pushed them into the supermarket. (Yes, the residents are allowed to push their trolleys all the way to their car so it makes unloading of groceries into the car so much easier. Unlike Singapore, we have to push the trolleys back to the supermarket to get our precious gold coin back. But here, the trolleys are discarded everywhere in the car park. But their car parks are HUGE and open aired.) So you see, I actually pity this cute guy who have to frequent the car park to gather the trolleys back under such a bad weather. Whats more, he is wearing a pair of Bemudas! Doesn't he feels cold? I guess he does cos he when he spotted us waiting outside, he shot us this drop-dead gorgeous grin and said "It's cold, isn't it?".

My crazy mother enjoys the wind while I scurried into the supermarket. The wind got terrible and my mum's hair was disheveled. When she came to me, she told me the cute guy told her that her hair was messy in a friendly manner. Gosh, I was so jealous. But we did manage to exchange a few polite words when we met. I managed to remain composed despite his lop-sided grin which served as a killer weapon.

Overall, today's weather is the coldest ever since I've arrived. Hopefully it gets better so we can stay outdoor.

Tomorrow my aunt is bringing us to some museums at downtown. Boring! Haha... You know me, I'm not passionate about going to museums.

Below is a record of what I did for the past week. You guys may skip that part if you want since I've more or less mentioned them in my emails. ^^ I'm updating 7th March first. Too lazy to type.

7th March (Tuesday)

It is a long flight to USA. But hey I survived! I did a transit at Tokyo Int airport and was mistaken to be a Japanese. This happened again when I arrived at the L.A. Int Airport. I have heard so much about how strict the US customs were and that many people experienced difficulties in entering the States. I'm terribly nervous and scared that something might happen considering my mum sounds like a 'retard' when she speaks in English. And it did not help that my mum had packed a whole baggage FULL of dried food such as dried scallops, curry powders etc. Thus we have to sign a declaration form. Chances are the people at the custom will check your baggages. I heard about so many people being scanned completely. The L.A. airport was almost hald filled with Japanese. Many of them are Japanese students dressed in their kawaii Japanese school uniforms. So a woman at the custom actually told we were Japanese too. She said "Japanese? Go go go!" without bothering to check our baggages. Amazed and shock, I actually asked her if she wants to check our baggages and was pulled away by my mum. She scolded me stupid and asked me why do I have to look for troubles when we don't need one.

After clearing the L.A. custom, we took an internal flight to Chicago (ORD airport). A caucasion sat besides me. He is friendly.
